Coexistence vs. Codependency
The topic of the week.
To exist in harmony with many others: simple. We may not realize the enormous amount of faith each and every one of us invests in total strangers everyday. We trust that we won’t be assaulted while walking home or on the city bus or awoken from sleep in a fit of the very real terror of discovering an intruder in your living room. . .not that you would be sleeping in your living room.
My point is that living in a globalized civilization requires the free-willed members of society to commit to doing well unto others, for the sake of keeping it together.
But it’s easy to cross the line between working in tandem and depending on someone to function.
At the moment, my network consists of a self-taught digital media guru, a young, cocky, live-in “trained professional,” a quirky “work-from-home” neighbor and a scared kid clinging to the hopeful promise of success. How did I ever get here? More importantly though: what would I do without any one of them?
